Dr Ishrat Syed and Dr Kalpana Swaminathan

Dr Ishrat Syed is a general and paediatric surgeon. As photographer he uses the camera to explore hidden histories.

Dr Kalpana Swaminathan is a paediatric surgeon. She won the 2009 Crossword Award for Venus Crossing: Twelve Stories of Transit.

They write together as Kalpish Ratna. Their last book was The Secret Life of Zika Virus (2017).
