Ira Mathur

Ira Mathur is an Indian-born Trinidadian multimedia journalist and a Sunday Guardian columnist. She studied creative writing in London, with diplomas from The University of East Anglia and the Faber Academy. In 2018, Ira was shortlisted for the Bridport Short Story Prize, the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition and the Small Axe Literary Competition; and in 2023, she won the OCM Bocas Prize for Literature, the most prestigious literary prize in the Caribbean, for her memoir.
