Kamala Elizabeth Nayar was born in Montreal, Quebec of parents of South Asian and American origin. She is Chair, Asian Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, British Columbia, Canada, and author of, among other books, The Sikh Diaspora in Vancouver and Hayagriva in South India.
