Tribhuvandas Patel was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and participated in the Indian independence movement. He dedicated his life for the benefit of the people of India and was involved in rural development and worked against untouchability. He successfully led farmers against unfair trade practices and established Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited in 1946, which is today known as ‘Amul’. He insisted that each village co-operative should be open to all milk producers regardless of caste, creed or community.
