B.D. Pande

B.D. Pande was the first person from Kumaon and Garhwal division to pass the Indian Civil Service examination in 1938. In his long tenure, Pande held many important offices in various state and central governments. He served as cabinet secretary from 1972 to 1977. In 2000, he was conferred with the Padma Vibhushan for his meritorious service to the nation. He was also honoured with a DLitt (honoris causa) by the Kumaon University in 2006.
