Vayu Naidu is a novelist and performance storyteller of the oral traditions. Her doctoral work brought out the transposition of cultural and performance nuances through re-imaginings of Indian epics and world myths in English. Her post-doctoral research examined the role of stories and storytelling as a bridge in multilingual contexts, such as education, prisons, immigration and domestic violence. She is now Research Associate in the Department of the Languages and Cultures of South Asia at SOAS University of London. Arts Council England funded the Vayu Naidu Intercultural Storytelling Theatre from 2001-2012. Her work is digitally archived by SADAA, the South Asian Diaspora Arts and Archives. Her plays and music have been broadcast and staged. Vayu Naidu’s previous novel, Sita’s Ascent (2013), was nominated for the Commonwealth Book Award.
She lives in London with her husband, as well as at Mamallapuram.
